Flywheel

The first 20 minutes or so is the best work the Kendrick brothers have produced. Unfortunately, it all downhill from there. I love really, really slow films as long as they have a purpose for being so. But this movie drags so terribly. Hey Kendrick boys! Maybe your films would be more interesting if the lives of your characters would get harder after they became Christians. Not only would this give your stories a shot of much needed dramatic conflict. It would be much closer to what the Christian life is actually like.

A New Beginning With An Old Hobby

I started this blog a long time ago but never got around to using it. I wanted it to be a place where I could write about movies and anyone who wanted could comment. I believe I learn a lot about cinema by listening to the honest, thoughtful opinions of others. So, I invite everyone to read and comment and disagree with me. If I argue back, it's not because I'm mad at you. It's because I'm trying to learn from you.

I'll be writing here about all things movies. Old movies and new ones. American and foreign. Big budget Hollywood movies and no-budget indies. Dramatic and documentary. Features, shorts, TV shows, commercials. Books on movies and even individual filmmakers too. Anything that inspires me will be fair game.

Some may think that spending this much time on movies is a frivolous waste. But after 25 years of pretty intense movie-watching, I know that spending time thinking, I mean really thinking, about movies is spending time thinking about all of life. How can that be a bad thing?

Again, feel free to let me have it. Critique my opinions, my writing, my choice of subjects or whatever. I want to learn from you.

My first post will be coming soon. Or I guess it would be my second, as this is actually the first. Oops.
